Don't know if you caught the Westminster Dog Show this weekend, but if you're planning on watching reruns at some point, stop reading now because I'm going to spoil the ending for you!
The winner was not Yakee Leaving Me Breathless At Franshaw. Nor was it Deja Vu Ruffles Have Ridges. And, contrary to its name, San Jo's Born To Win did not win. The winner of the Westminster Dog Show this year was Josh.
This giant teddy bear of a dog loomed large on the television screen and left all the poms and pekes in the dust. And across America, thousands of 4-year-olds are saying, "Mommy! I want one of those!!" (And probably thousands of Americans are saying, "I wonder if they'd be good in an apartment?")
I liked Josh as soon as I saw him, probably because he brought the Dog back into Dog Show. He's big and drooly and wooffy. I like all dogs, but some of these show dogs are so fluffy and shampooed and...well, just show dogs. You get the impression that if you threw a ball, they'd look at you like you'd lost your mind. Josh, on the other hand, looks like his interests are laying on the couch, getting his tummy rubbed, and spending quality time with his squeaky hamburger. He's the kind of dog you'd love to take to a dog park and play with. And he got so excited when he won!
Here's a picture of the proud winner. Forget all the trophies and flowers and that giant purple ribbon (what's the point of that thing, anyway?)...you know he's just looking for the liver treats. I also think it's very brave of his handler to wear cream satin...wonder how she keeps all the black hair off of it? Talk about major shedding!

Your fans are feeling deserted. :( I'm getting tired of checking in every morning and getting Josh.
Or at least email me and let me know you haven't fallen off a stage somewhere and broken your neck. :)
